Always Look For the Opportunity to Learn

This past month was exciting! I attended my first author fair at the 12th Annual Hammond Public Library Author & Arts Fair on Saturday, August 17, 2024. There were a total of 22 authors and artists who participated. A food truck and a photo booth photographer also offered treats and pics for every attendee. It was a fun day for all.

My favorite part may have been preparing for the fair! Searching for just the right props for my table, creating eye-catching posters, making copies of coloring pages and sell sheets, etc. were all fun tasks to complete. As I worked to prepare for the day, I could imagine what my table would look like which made me more excited for the day to arrive!

When I first wrote Wynn Parker Is A Mechanic Today, I didn’t think of all the new skills I’d get to learn. Yet nearly every day presents a new opportunity to learn something new in the literary world. And isn’t that what Wynn gets to do in this series? He and I are explorers in life – always finding something new to learn and do. Wynn gets to investigate different trades careers and learn many new skills – mechanical, interpersonal, teamwork, etc. And I am learning new skills as well: marketing, sales, blog writing, etc.

Life is about learning and growing. This past month I learned that I love author fairs. I love meeting new people and talking about Wynn and his adventures. I love signing books and handing out bookmarks and coloring pages to passersby. If you haven’t tried something new to learn lately, I challenge you to find something. Watch how your life blossoms and how God blesses you with new people and skills when you do!
